X-Grid For Gardens

Summary

Used as a foundation for practically any type of garden building, you can find X-Grid used as a base for summerhouses, greenhouses, sheds, verandas, log cabins, wooden gazebos, bandstands, wooden garages, camping pods and more. Any type of wooden, plastic or aluminium garden structure can be placed on the 100% recycled plastic base and if filled with gravel can act as an internal floor for sheds which are constructed without one.

The lightweight and easy-to-install nature of X-Grid makes it perfect for domestic settings and a plastic garden building foundation can easily be laid by a single person with only a fraction of the effort required when compared to a traditional concrete slab base. Weighing only just over 5kg per square metre and boasting a compressive strength of over 420 tonnes per square metre, X-Grid is as capable as it is light. The tight interlocking connection of X-Grid means it holds together and can be built up in asymmetrical configurations where required and is easily cut should trimming be required for curves or non-standard shapes.

Product Information

Traditionally, a base of free-poured concrete or pre-cast concrete slabs was generally the most common method of construction for bases for sheds, summerhouses, greenhouses etc. as it was understood to be the easiest way of constructing a solid foundation. With the advancement of plastic technology, with the high-density plastic formulation and unique asymmetric configuration of cells as designed for X-Grid is one of the most stable and resilient products available on the market today. The bi-curved fins help to dissipate vertical loads outwards and the cylindrical cells add masses of strength to cope with the pressure.

As X-Grid is designed to be 93% open structure, the panels are easily moved around on site and requires very little manual labour to install it. With a single individual capable of laying the grid at a rate of 100m² per hour, you can construct your plastic garden building base easily without any curing times or any messy & dangerous concrete mixing. This means you can place your garden building on your newly constructed base immediately without any delays.

When the surface is prepared and the grid integrated into the existing surface, it’s barely visible to the eye and helps to aid air-circulation below the floor of the building. As X-Grid is constructed from stable HDPE plastic rather than wood, it is impervious to rot and will not encourage water ingress to the timbers at the bottom of the building. This can help to drastically prolong the lifespan of a shed or summerhouse.
