About The Gravel Car Park Project

Recently, a company in Hildenborough needed to expand its parking area to accommodate increased traffic. Working with Chapman Trice Landscape Contractors, they opted for 300m² of X-Grid to create a robust, permeable and low-maintenance parking solution that aligned perfectly with their needs.

This local company required additional parking to handle the daily flow of vehicles. The project called for a surface that could support heavy traffic while ensuring proper drainage and minimal maintenance. Chapman Trice was tasked with delivering a solution and X-Grid was chosen due to its superb strength, permeability, sustainability and easy installation

The X-Grid Car Park Installation

The installation process involved some superb ground preparation by the Chapman Trice team, which included a lot of groundwork to create a sub-base build-up that contained type-3 hardcore and granite dust to provide a strong and permeable foundation.

With the sub-base complete, the team began installing their 300m² of X-Grid. Our unique grid system X-Grid is simple to install thanks to its innovative slot and peg connection system with one person able to install 100m² per hour! The installation was further enhanced with the use of our specialist white Delineators, which have been designed exclusively for use with X-Grid, to create clear, organised parking bays that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Once laid, the area was filled with a 14mm crushed granite aggregate to complete the parking surface.

This resulted in a firm and stable surface, ideal for heavy traffic which still allows water to drain away naturally.

The Solution: X-Grid for Strength and Sustainability

The strongest independently tested ground reinforcement grid on the market, capable of withstanding up to 420 tonnes per sqm (unfilled). Not only does X-Grid provide a durable and stable surface, but its permeable structure also allows rainwater to drain naturally, preventing puddles and reducing the risk of localised flooding.
