The organisers of Grand Designs Live contacted us after discovering X-Grid, our ground reinforcement grid, whilst searching online for a suitable recycled product to use within their event. The team were looking for a recycled ‘hero product’ to be the main feature of the entrance to the Gardens Hall section of their event. After researching further and finding out more about our fully recycled ground reinforcement grid, they decided that it would be the ideal choice for use on their entrance.

About X-Grid
X-Grid is a permeable ground reinforcement grid, designed and manufactured here in the UK from 100% recycled plastic waste. It is a durable, versatile, SuDS compliant gravel retention grid which is a suitable alternative to concrete or tarmac that can be used both domestically and commercially. Thanks to its unique formulation and design, when tested by Lloyds British, X-Grid was found to have a compressive strength of up to 428 tonnes per square metre making it one of the strongest products available on the market today and ensures that it complies with DIN 1072 (Road and foot bridges; design loads).
Weighing just over 5kg per square metre, X-Grid is very easy to handle and with its simple slot and peg connecting system a single person can lay up to 100m² per hour which is an amazing amount. The fast installation also helps save you time and money through reducing labour time, reduced dig and fill requirement saves you money on material and using X-Grid® on a project can
eliminate ongoing maintenance time and cost as gravel does not need sweeping back into place or replacing.
The open cell structure of X-Grid retains gravel and other materials much more effectively to prevents the filling from migrating to surrounding areas. The unique structure also allows water to pass through the grid and into the sub-base below. This helps to reduce surface water run-off and to reduce the effects of severe and/or sudden rainfall by locking water into the sub-base to allow it to gradually soak away, diverting water from our under pressure and flood prone sewer systems.
As well as the benefits previously mentioned, X-Grid is also a weatherproof, rot-proof and UV stable product that will not break down over time, can be used as non-slip surface, can be cut to size using a handheld saw, prevents gravel and other material migration and can last up for to 25 years!
All of the points covered make X-Grid the ideal product for a huge range of applications. It can be used for car parks, emergency access routes, golf courses, pathways, equestrian areas, shed bases, hot tub bases, patios, campsites and more!
