Who are Frozen Light Theatre?

Frozen Light makes sensory theatre for adult and young adult audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities, which are toured to theatres across the UK,

It was founded in 2013, with six shows which were toured to over 70 different venues. In 2016 they were the first company to take a show specifically for audiences with PMLD to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

“Frozen Light has a passion for: stories and adventures; engaging interactive theatre; devised theatre with original and electrifying soundtracks; theatre that is fun and mischievous; theatre that questions; theatre that is bold; theatre that encompasses all senses.”

What is night out in nature?

Night Out in Nature is a new outdoor sensory installation performance for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

The premise involves four scientists that have lived inside a biodome for 10 years, nurturing the Blostma – a plant so powerful that it only flowers every 12 years.

The Blostma blossoms under the full moon tonight.

"Accessible to all audiences, whatever the weather"

TurfMesh 1000 was used to provide access for the show – as it is ideal for grass protection and can handle pedestrian and wheelchair use.

Amber Gregory, who came up with the idea for the show, said: “When creating Night Out in Nature, our first ever outdoor production, we were thrilled to work with GCL grass mesh floor, to ensure that the space was fully accessible for our audiences, whatever the weather. “

TurfMesh is designed to be installed on existing or newly laid grassed areas. It creates a resilient and durable grass surface – which is a hugely popular solution for grass roads, car parking and access routes for emergency services.

It is easy to install and can be simply rolled out over very closely cut or newly seeded grass and pinned into place.

The beauty of TurfMesh is that it can be installed without the need to excavate the existing surfaces. It is made to last and is ideal for short, medium and long term use.

It was ideal for the show as it features a textured, non-slip upper surface meaning it is safe for pedestrian use.

As you can see from the pictures, it is highly discreet and blends into the surface.
