The Location

The Manners
Haddon Road, Bakewell,
Peak District National Park DE45 1EP

Nestled in the heart of the thriving Derbyshire market town of Bakewell, which sits on the banks of the river Wye, is The Manners, a stunning traditional pub which also offers lodgings on a bed and breakfast basis. Highly popular due to its location in the Peak District, The Manners is frequented by walkers, ramblers, tourists and locals alike.

Renowned as being one of the top five restaurants in Bakewell, The Manners were keen to continue to service as many customers as possible during the restrictive Coronavirus period of 2020. Due to the spacing out of tables, restricting the overall capacity of the restaurant, The Manners added a marquee outside to offer more space and add to capacity to their bustling eatery. This marquee was situated at the rear of the pub and placed on a pre-existing solid concrete surface, which has been prone to standing water and puddling, which isn’t ideal as a seating area!

The Solution

Having spoken with GCL Products to find out what possible solutions could be offered to help combat the effects of very British weather, during what is widely regarded as the most difficult time for the hospitality industry, we were able to introduce The Manners to RecoPath Path Matting.

RecoPath is a recycled plastic and interlocking flooring panel system which can be quickly installed to create a solid area on which to stand or walk. As the grid is 50mm in depth, this can be used to help raise tables, chairs (and of course customers) off the concrete floor and away from both cold and moisture.

The panels were laid very quickly and in the space of a couple of hours, the whole area was transformed, making the whole space feel warmer and much more substantial.
