Resin Bound Gravel Paths & Walkways

Historically, path areas and yards around blocks of flats and community housing have been created with inexpensive and inefficient surfacing such as concrete, slabs or tarmac. These traditionally used methods have been used for many years and so it was assumed that these surfaces were probably best due to their widespread use. These surfaces have major drawbacks though, such as

• Weed growth, requiring regular maintenance to protect the integrity of the surface
• Destabilisation and degradation, which can lead to trips and falls. A huge risk to the elderly and vulnerable
• Impermeability, creating a greater risk of surface water flooding, as well as an increase in risk of slips in puddles or ice in colder months
• Unsightliness. Neither concrete or tarmac are attractive and are generally only ever black or grey.

Resin bound gravel is a perfect type of surfacing for paths and yards around flats as it doesn’t have the same drawbacks as mentioned above. Resin bound is a permeable and continuous type of surfacing which looks beautiful all year round. In terms of maintenance it can simply be pressure-washed and sprayed with weedkiller if absolutely necessary. This can massively reduce the amount of time, and therefore money, to keep the paths and surfaces around blocks of flats to a minimum.
