An innovative product created primarily for the resin bound gravel market is the recessed tree pit. Essential for urban areas and around towns, these recessed tree pits are perfect for protecting the root and bottom of tree trunks by reducing the amount of litter and debris which can collect at the foot of the tree.
When filled with resin bound gravel, these tree pits retain permeability to allow rain water to drain efficiently, and ensure natural watering of the tree can occur. As the frame is made up of three parts, it can be installed around existing trees without the need to dig them up, which would otherwise affect the health of the tree. Using one of our decorative gravels and either the UV-stable or non-UV stable resin, you can create a scene which is either subtle or contrasting by using a contrasting or complementing gravel.
The Recessed Tree Pit is a stylish and practical tree grille, suitable for environments including urban settings.
What is a recessed tree grille?
Tree grilles provide paving over the tree pit area.
The pits are surrounded by fabricated mild steel. The air gap is created above top soil to replicate a rural scenario for an urban dree and avoid root burst effect. It is designed for use over tree root chambers. It is designed to accept a range of infill materials in order to meet the aesthetic surroundings of the landscape.
The units are designed in order to allow the watering of the tree’s root system whilst also allowing ventilation to prevent changes to the soils’ PH levels.
Tree guards can be used as a stand alone product or can be fixed directly into the ground with spiked legs. Tree grilles can also be manufactured from cast iron and this means that rain and irrigation water can pass through to the root of the tree.
Ultimately, a tree pit encourages tree growth and tree protection but also prevents damage from traffic, bicycles, vandals and animals.
