What Is Resin Catalyst?
A catalyst is used in conjunction with a two-part polyurethane resin to accelerate the curing process and ensure you are provided with an even and consistent cure. Our accelerator should only be added to un-catalysed resin bound kits to prevent any issues with the resin curing too quick. The BoundFast catalyst allows experienced installers to have complete control of their resin bound installations by speeding up the curing process to meet the needs of each project. Typically, an accelerator is used on resin bound gravel installations when the temperature falls between 10-20°C and the exact temperature on the day decides exactly how much catalyst you need to add to correctly speed up the curing time.

How To Mix Resin and Catalyst
To use the catalyst, simply add to the part A component of the resin before mixing at levels of between 0.01% – 0.5% by weight. Below you will find a table displaying the correct amount required for your resin binder size and the temperature. Ensure you do follow the recommended levels of accelerator as with too little catalyst, the installed material may take much longer to cure whereas, with too much catalyst, it will cure very quickly and can be very difficult to trowel your resin bound resulting in an unfinished surface.
