GravelHold

Pour-On Gravel Binding Resin

A simple yet effective polyurethane solution for binding together loose gravel

GravelHold

Create Durable, UV-Stable & SuDs Compliant Surfaces

Made here in the UK, GravelHold is a strong bonding solution able to be used with both new and existing gravel up to 20mm in diameter to create solid surfaces.

GravelHold has been designed for stronger bonding with a higher tolerance to contaminants whilst carrying the ability to be applied at lower temperatures and drying quicker than water-based binders.

Thanks to its high resin content, you can also rest assured that GravelHold will outperform any water-based loose gravel binders and is supplied with a 2 year guarantee.

Our binder is usually not affected if there is rain after installation which is uncommon with pour-on resin binders. The system will achieve its initial strength after 24 hours of drying and will arrive at full strength after 7 days.

Make sure you have the right sub-base for GravelHold

GravelHold covered gravel can be applied to any free-draining base, this includes soil or compacted type one sub-bases.

But bear in mind that how your finished surface will be used depends on what type of sub-base your area will require.

If your area will be purely decorative then it will not require any structural strength beneath it.

However, if the finished surface will be walked on, you need to ensure that areas sub-base is strong enough to support the weight of people without the risk of movement or collapsing.

GravelHold Application

Depending on how your gravel surface is to be used will dictate the application method we recommend you use. Sufficient coating is vital as without the right coverage you surface may not perform as expected.

There are three application techniques and how you plan on using the area will determine the best method for your area. Below you will find the most common gravel uses and the recommend techniques:

Decorative gravel in plant pots, containers, bordering fences or houses. These would be classed as non-foot traffic areas and any of the three techniques can be used to apply GravelHold.

Gravel in borders, along the sides of paths or around slabs. As these areas will receive occasional foot traffic, we would recommend applying GravelHold using the spray on or hand mix method.

Gravel footpaths, around slabs and dustbin store areas. These are likely to receive regular foot traffic the hand mix and trowel method will achieve the best results.

Pour On Method - Decorative Gravel

GravelHold can be poured from a watering can, using around 1 litre per square metre.

Ensure stones are evenly coated for best performance. A sprinkler rose should be used for even distribution.

If desired, 3mm diameter holes may be drilled into the lid of the GravelHold container to create a sprinkler effect and used instead of a watering can.

Spray On Method - Occasional Foot Traffic

For a more controlled application and better yield, a pressurised sprayer can be used instead of a watering can.

If using a pressurised sprayer, evenly coat stones at a rate of approximately 0.5 litres per square metre, avoiding run-off.

Sprayers can be flushed with white spirit between GravelHold uses to remove any residue and prevent the binder from curing inside pipes or tanks.

Hand Mix Method - Regular Foot Traffic

Shovel gravel in to a durable bucket or trug and add GravelHold slowly, mixing with a clean garden trowel or fork.

Once the gravel appears to be evenly coated, decant the gravel to the desired area, smoothing slightly with a plastering trowel for an even finish.

This process can be repeated, reusing any excess GravelHold left between mixes, adding more as needed.
