About Rainsmart Ellipse Inspection Channel Crate
The Ellipse Soakaway Crates are manufactured in the UK from entirely recycled plastic. The triple Rainsmart storm crates are buried beneath earth, gravel and other permeable materials in order to create void spaces with the purpose of holding rainwater or surface water run-off. The crates are situated underground and are used beneath low-intensity domestic surfaces such as small driveways or landscaped areas. The triple-stacked crates are designed for protecting, homes, gardens and commercial spaces against the effects of rain, storms and flooding.
The modular, easy to assemble crates can be stacked and stood side-by-side crates can help to protect homes and gardens against the effects of rain, storms and flooding. These crates are easy to assemble and can be stacked and stood side-by-side with more crates in order to create larger soakaway areas. It is recommended before the area around the crates has been filled, that the neighbouring crates are connected using cable ties to ensure no unwanted movement.
A rubber mallet can be used to connect the structure together.
The benefit of soakaway crates
The crate configuration can either be used as a rainwater harvesting tank or to hold water indefinitely or for attenuation purposes, whereby water is held temporarily until it can permeate through the crate and membrane and into the ground below. Each triple crate will hold up to 348 litres of water, meaning that small and large, hidden underground tanks can be created quickly and easily, without the need for mechanised lifting or specialist skills and tools.
Water storage systems are installed underground and use pipes to collect as much water as possible with a non-permeable membrane wrapped around these crates to prevent water from escaping. The collected water can be used for a number of reasons including powering water features, used in reserve in case of droughts or watering plants.
An infiltration system are installed underground and use pipes to collect surface water and a permeable membrane is wrapped around each crate. The collected water is then slowly released into the ground below at an acceptable rate to ensure it does not overwhelm and cause surface water build up or localised flooding.
